Built by practitioners with direct institutional experience.

PMIJ is founded and led by practitioners. Its President has spent over 20 years in manager evaluation and selection, including as a gatekeeper managing director and head of private equity at a Japanese trust bank.

PMIJ brings together Japanese institutional allocators, global private-markets managers, advisors and gatekeepers, and specialist contributors. We do not replace their roles. We build the common ground they meet on.

Better information, clearer roles and durable dialogue.

01

Clarity

Make Japan-facing institutional expectations and information requirements easier to understand.

02

Preparation

Help managers and their partners organise information before formal institutional review begins.

03

Independence

Preserve the separate responsibilities of managers, allocators, advisors and specialist contributors.

PMIJ does not direct investment outcomes.

Its role is to strengthen the quality and consistency of the starting point from which independent review takes place.

Institutional discipline before promotion.

01

Long-term market practice

Develop reference points that remain useful across cycles, mandates and institution-specific processes.

02

Intellectual rigour

Separate verified information, practitioner judgement and open questions in every framework and publication.

03

Transparent status

Publish roles, programmes, contributors and materials only when their status has been formally confirmed.

04

Independent judgement

Preserve the responsibility of institutions and their advisors for diligence, analysis and investment decisions.

Leadership, founding members and board advisors.

Only formally confirmed roles and responsibilities are published. Additional founding members and board advisors will be added as appointments are confirmed.
